Amanita muscaria also known as Fly Agaric, is a yellow to red capped mushroom which has noticeable white dots on the cap. Amanita is a widely grown psychedelic mushroom which usually fruits in the fall. Its first entheogenic and religious uses date back to 4000 BC when it has been documented within the "Rig Veda" as being the "Soma" of ancient India.
Amanita is the psychedelic mushroom in the book "Alice in Wonderland" and has previously been developed into a cartoon/video game character “Toad”- Super Mario Brothers.
The effects of amanita are quite noticeable with an onset of euphoria which turn into waves - which gradually appear and disappear. Similar to Peyote trip reports amanita causes synesthesia, which allows a user to experience colours or to visualise sound.
Amanita sometimes displays clarity of mind, although some users report the dreamlike states.
Amanita muscaria contains Ibotenic acid which converts to muscimol within the body. Ibotenic acid is responsible for the nausea, whereas muscimol is responsible for the euphoria, the "Yin" and the "Yang".
