Tagetes lucida was used by the Aztecs in their ritual incense (yyauhtl). It is also used by the Huichol, mixed with Nicotiana rustica (which is a potent wild tobacco), Targets has previously been used for medicinal purposes but in large quantities individuals claim the herb to have psychotropic effects.
