Nymphaea Caerulea, also known as the Egyptian blue lily or sacred blue lily.
Has historically been known as the blue lotus and sacred lotus, among Ancient Egyptians, Nubians, Abyssinians, and African civilizations.
The lotus was significantly important to the ancient Egyptians, as it rised and fall in sync with the sun. Due to the colour of the blue lotus it was said that it was the original container of both Atum and Ra, whom were solar deities. It was the symbol of the Egyptian deity Nefertem.
The Egyptians used Nymphaea as a narcotic by mixing the flower with alcohol and either consuming it as tincture. It has also been said that smoking the herb brings euphoria, heightened awareness and tranquility.
